Idolatry of Expectation

In large measure, what Christmas has become is up to us.

I’ve often turned Christmas into expectation - whether that be time with family, the exuberance with which someone receives my gifts, some tender times late at night or early in the morning in front of the manger or Christmas tree, etc.

Christmas is not about my expectation. It’s about the incarnation.

Perhaps COVID can be a bit like a correcting parent. I may scowl but inwardly appreciate the discipline.

PORTAL TO HEAVEN: The joy of a holy day should still be based in the holiness of the day.

For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation…But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman…Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart…God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 2 Corinthians 6:2 NLT, Galatians 4:4 NIV, Luke 2:19 NIV, John 3:16 NLT
