The Fourth fireworks over dozens of small Upstate towns was mesmerizing and couldn’t help but bring to mind the line, “Bombs bursting in air.”
It was reminiscent of when crowds would gather to watch the battles of yesteryear from a distant hilltop safely away from the canon blasts.
Upon watching the magnificent and seemingly choreographed displays of color, I happened to get distracted by a plane and looked up for just an instant. And that’s when I saw it.
A lone star shown through the overcast sky and I realized it made the impressive fireworks look puny. As I looked down again, I realized the fireflies were also stealing the show.
God cannot be topped and this goes for government - even on Independence Day.
As remarkable as democracy is in this Republic, it can barely hold a candle by comparison to the hard-fought victory on the cross and its subsequent upside-down-kingdom where a servant is regarded as royalty.
PORTAL TO HEAVEN: Every night, there are great displays in the sky to remind heaven-bound citizens of a kingdom without end.
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world…At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my sanity was restored. Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever. His dominion is an eternal dominion; his kingdom endures from generation to generation.…his kingdom will never end.”
